Dorothy's interviews were conducted in the summer of 2006. Enjoy her stories of a high spirited young lady, her time as nurse and WW II. Mrs. Atwell is a talented artist, writer and is actively involved in both endeavors.

Jewel's' interviews were conducted in the spring of 2006. Mrs. Bratton recollected stories of Mineral Springs, life in the high mountains of Colorado and coming home to Barry County. Jewell passed away on March 18, 2008.

Richard A. (Sarge) Carney's interviews were conducted in the summer of 2006. The Carney family has long been present in Barry County as many names reflect. ( Carney Branch, Carney Cemetery). Our native son left Barry County to play an important role in WW II and in Armed Forces around the world. His love of country life and Barry county was always reflected in his life in many way, most prominently his bee keeping. Enjoy Sarge's recollections of full and productive life.

Wilma Mizer Hall was born and raised in the Arnhart community. She relates memories of strawberry picking, song conventions and managing one time local tourist attraction Crystal Caverns. Mrs. Hall's interviews were conducted in the winter of 2005.

Mrs. Reeds' interviews were conducted in the spring of 2006. Cora tells of happy childhood days, simple pleasures and hard work. Her life story captures life in Barry County in an earlier day and time.

Nellie was 100 years old at the time of her interviews in the winter of '06 and '07.Read her memories of travel in a covered wagon, Rock House cave and raising sheep in the Mineral Springs community. Mrs. Stever taught in several rural schools in Barry County.
